The Bruce sat in a cave hiding from the English army. Questioning his chances of victory, he saw a spider spinning a web. Legend says 6 times the spider tried to jump to the other side of the rocks. Robert contemplated his own defeats and says, if this little spider makes it this time, I too shall continue my fight. On the 7th attempt, the spider makes the jump. Reinvigorated Robert continues his fight and eventually defeats his foes.
